Why only english?

Nowadays English has become the most important language in the world, and little by little other languages are disappearing because of this imposing of the universal language. Schools and universities emphazise a lot teaching English, but many careers don’t emphasize to teach a well use of Spanish, a language which is totally wasted by Chileans. That is why sometimes it is really difficult in schools teaching English, if students don’t even have acquire their mother tongue, it is even more difficult to teach a foreign language. In my case, I think is not really meaningful to learn a language which is not related with psychology. It must be more useful if teachers teach me how to make a relation between languages, in this case English, and how people behave or learn.

I know that languages are a crucial factor in our learning process, it is important to know about them in order to comprehend our culture and traditions. Having in mind this, it is easier to understand how language influences our lives. It means that each country have their own characteristics depending on the language that they speak. I think it would be really easy to chose one language and get totally involved with it, but a language need diversity to improve. That is why, languages are strongly influenced by borrowing expressions, exchange of vocabulary and evolution of words.

I do believe that English is getting powerful with the past of the year, and maybe in the future, it will become the only language in the world, which is an idea that scared me. Spanish is a beautiful language which is not being well use in our country. Most of the people speak Chilean and they use like a quarter of all the vocabulary that Spanish give us. Commonly in schools English teachers don’t explain why children should learn this language. They imposed English like maths or history, but there is not that simple. Acquiring a new language is a personal decision that every human being should have.

In my opinion Spanish has been underestimate by schools, universities and Chilean people in general. There is a lack of loyalty to our own language. We are accustomed to make an improper use of it speaking in a bad way. Also, depending of the context that we belong we chose our vocabulary which in most of the cases is really poor and repetitive. Nowadays, English is getting into our lives, our classrooms and tastes, and teachers are imposing this language in an authoritative way. Chilean people should be more assertive in order to decide what language want to improve and acquire. Teachers are those who can save Spanish and keep it as our first language as mother tongue.

What a warm faculty!

Hello!
Today I've to talk you about my dear faculty of Social Science, were I study psychology. The current situation in the faculty is that we had the elections of the Cecso, and the winners were Camila Ríos and other people from anthropology, psychology and basic education. I think that there’re a lot of things to improve in my faculty. For example the computers are very slow, the library doesn´t have enough books, and there´re a lot of neo-hippies in the faculty. First I think that we have to resolve the neo-hippies thing. They are very problematic people because they are so rich that they don’t understand the meaning of the public education, they don´t have any sense about the needs of the society, and how to improve it. I think that in the University of Chile the access must be for everyone, because it´s a public institution and it might prepare the professionals of the future. So, it´s very important to collaborate with this mission, by selecting well the future students of my faculty. It´s important to give some information about the mission of the University to all of the students of the faculty. Another thing I would like to improve in my faculty is the library, because a lot of times that I have gone looking for a book and the books had been already lent or they were not available. There would be lots of benefits for the faculty if we improve this things, because it would be a better place to study, with more books, and better technology, and the students will be together as one faculty fighting for social justice. I said! Goodbye everybody, ¡REVOLUTION NOW!

Movies...

I believe that I am big fun of movies but I dont spend to much time seeing them. I try to go to the cinema sometimes but it is really difficult with all the things that I have to do. The thing is that the last movie that I sow in the cinema was Harry Potter, the sixth one. I sow it because I have read all the books and I like too see mi ideas represented by actors.
Even though I like all kind of movies I prefer those ones that you have to find your own explanation for the things. For example one of my favourite movies is "the clockwork orange". His director is Stanley Kubrik´s. I like this one because the first time that I started to see it, it wasn´t easy to imagine what is going to continue. Also it was really interesting to see how human beings could be easily conditionated. Summarizing, this films was about 4 friends who like to play in a weird way, they like to hurt people. The protagonist was sent to jail and there he was accept to be part of a new scientific experiment about human behavior. The experiment tried to demostrate that you can make that bad people behave in a good way by some methods that make your body to get accostumed to some situations. The protagonist was conditionated by classic music by shock therapy. Scientifics showed them violence videos with classic music, at the end, he wasnt able to listen to classic music, specifically Beethoven. He vomit and feel nauseas. He tried to commit suicide, but he coulndt and the government had to indemnified him.
I think it is a good movie, I have seen it like four or five times, and I always find a new concept to analyze.

Well. Thats all.

See you !

Sports

Sports have been always an important topic in my life. I am a big fan of Soccer, especially, la universidad Chile, as you should know, the best team in our country. I admit that am not an sporty man, but I have always tried to play a little bit of soccer, in the school and now, at university, I used to play with some friends on weekends. Despite this, I am not consider that i am a fitness person. Actually, I think I should improve my physical state. I have been really lazy these last years. I dont have time to do exercices. Too much study and work.
Even so, I always have some time to see my soccer time play. I really admire Marcelo Salas. He is the best sportman in history! Some months ago he retired, and of course I went to see his farewell. It was a shame, I really liked to see his plays every week. Anyway, as I was saying, I liked sport but I dont have time to play. If I could chose some sport to practice, apart from soccer, I would chose tennis. It is awesome the way that you have to prepare your body to those long plays. Sometimes they are playing like four or five hours, it is impressive, I really admire those gays.
I know that every sport should be healthy, but some of them are not really helpful. For example, wrestling. There are just some men, with funny underwear, whi fitght each other without any sense. I know that boxing and marcial arts are really disciplinated, but I disagrre with those TV shows which encourage violence.

Well... this is what I think, for now I just play some chess. It is the mind exercise, the best.

Bye!!!

Santiago...

I do like Santiago, and there are many places where a tourist could go and know some of our culture. Here is the list with some of them.

First of all, The San Cristobal hill, this is a wonderful place to walk and have a quiet time with your close friends or family. Also it has some kind of chairlift where you can see all Santiago. It is not recommended when it is smoggy, you couldnt see anything.

Also, you can go to some particular pabs in well located places, for example, in Plaza Italia there is a place called Bocaccio where you can have a finny time with your friends. Also you can dance and drink a little bit. But if you want to try typical foot and drinks from Chile, you have to go to "La piojera" the greatest place to know how the real Chilean eat.

The third place that I choose is a fast food locas at side of "plaza de armas" there you can try the most delicious hot dogs and hamburguers from the city. But if you wanto to try the greatest "chorrillana" and beers, you should go to "entre latas" a classic place for young people.

Also, if you want to know some of our art and history, you can visit the national museum which is located in the forestal park, another well known place to have fun. In this museum you could know a little bit about our history, our independence and the most important artist from our country.

Finally, the best thing that you can do on a sunday evening is to watch some good soccer. The national stadium is a good place to know the best football team from Chike, Universidad de Chile. I totally recommend to see some game.

Maybe they are not the best places but I tried!

Byee!
